THE OPPORTUNITY
The Intermediate Accountant will be responsible for assisting the Accounting Manager and Accounting Supervisor in the day-to-day, monthly, quarterly, and year end activities of the Head Office Accounting Department. This is a dynamic position that provides the opportunity to work alongside experienced CPA's and gain valuable experience towards your CPA designation.
This position is located at our corporate headquarters in Burnaby, B.C.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares, reviews, analyzes and distributes monthly financial statements for operating branches, including the reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts
- Prepares bank reconciliations and investigates outstanding items
- Reconciles and maintains fixed assets
- Prepares Statistics Canada quarterly reports
- Prepares sales tax remittances and returns (US and Canadian)
- Analyzes parts inventory semi-annually
- Prepares year end files, account analyses and supporting documentation for external auditors
- Assists with various ad hoc projects and tasks as required
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting is required
- Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Ability to work both independently, with little supervision and within a team environment
- Able to use previous experience and technical knowledge to analyze accounting issues
- Ability to communicate clearly, consistently and openly
- Strong time management, planning, and organizing skills
- Detailed-oriented
- Develop and maintain relationships with various departments
SALARY
The salary range for this position is $67,000 - $80,000 annually.
