About the workplace

This is an 18-month contract role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office.

This role has an anticipated end date of January 2027.

A typical day would involve:

  • Manage full cycle payroll for bi-weekly and monthly payroll groups. This includes auditing and importing payroll files, pay detail and pre-check audits. Also, responsible Statutory remittances, ROE, and term packages post payroll.
  • Provide guidance to Payroll team, auditing of daily payroll work by analyzing, reconciling, and resolving discrepancies to ensure payroll transactions are accurate and complete.
  • Responsible for month end remittances; ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payment. And will play an integral part in all year end activities including internal and external audits.
  • Support the delivery of established Payroll programs by providing advice & technical support to People & Culture Team, ITS, and Finance teams; responding/escalating complex inquiries where possible enabling an efficient and seamless service experience.
  • Regular testing of payroll and time and attendance software releases and working with vendors to raise and fix system issues.
  • Coordinate and conduct payroll related activities to enable the achievement of program. Work with manager and Payroll team to maintain team objectives, updating of policies and streamlining of procedures on a regular basis.

You have:

  • Specialized Education – Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) required.
  • Experience - Minimum 5 years in Full Cycle payroll including exposure to Time and Attendance systems. Knowledgeable about Payroll, Payroll Disability, and Accounting concepts, practices and techniques.
  • Experience working in high volume environment and working with collective agreements

Bonus if you also have:

  • A post-secondary diploma, or undergraduate degree in Business Administration
  • Experience in Finance or Accounting
  • Experience with Ultimate Software and UKG Dimensions

You are:

  • An Investigator & Problem Solver- You have a natural curiosity and analytical eye to review information, detect anomalies, and investigate and resolve discrepancies. Able to solve problems and make decisions based on a specific set of standards and guidelines, escalating unresolved issues to senior staff as required.
  • Deadline-driven & calm under pressure - Able to handle high volumes, can manage workflows to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely manner.
  • Strong Communicator - You have great communication and interpersonal skills, both verbally and written. This makes you a resource for your specialized area, providing specialized advice, guidance, explanations, and related support; you also might have helped develop program content.
  • Able to use discretion - You are a professional who knows how to apply judgement and discretion when it comes to sensitive and confidential matters.
  • A quick learner - Open-minded and able to learn Vancity strategies, functions and programs, policies, procedures, systems and software.
  • A team player You are reliable, dedicated and synergistically work with others to support the team.

The salary range for this role is $49,700 to $74,500 annually. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
