EXTERNAL July 24, 2025 REVENUE & TREASURY ANALYST (Permanent; 75 hours bi-weekly) The City of Lethbridge ( ) Treasury & Financial Services Department is committed to optimizing financial operations and enhancing fiscal sustainability. We are currently seeking an experienced Revenue & Treasury Analyst to join our team, who is dedicated to providing a high caliber of service in a busy, collaborative and dynamic environment. The Role As our top candidate, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the city’s cash management activities, including banking operations, payment collection systems, and electronic commerce activities. Additionally, you will coordinate the city’s investment portfolio activities, support the general accounts receivable process, and perform other accounting duties. The Revenue & Treasury Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting the municipal financial strategy by ensuring efficient cash flow management, managing investment returns, and maintaining robust financial controls. Your successful people skills will help maintain strong relationships with our valued partners. Your ability to make informed recommendations on investment strategies, cash flow forecasting, and accounts receivable issues, along with your unwavering commitment to integrity and confidentiality regarding financial transactions, will be essential.
Your Primary Responsibilities Will Be Focused On
- Coordinate daily banking operations, including monitoring account balances, reconciling transactions, ensuring timely deposits and withdrawals, and managing the corporation’s cash flow forecast to determine daily cash flow requirements.
- Manage payment collection systems, ensuring efficient processing of payments from various sources such as online platforms, POS terminals, and direct deposits. Oversee POS terminals, including troubleshooting issues and implementing upgrades
- Prepare cash flow forecasts to anticipate the city's liquidity needs, optimize cash utilization, and develop and implement cash handling procedures to ensure security and accuracy in all cash transactions.
- Coordinate General Accounts Receivable processes, ensuring accurate and timely invoices, payment application, customer statements and bad debt management
- Manage and report on the city’s investment portfolio, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with policy. Analyze investment risk, prepare complex quarterly investment portfolio analysis, and coordinate compliance requirements associated with investment brokers and dealers.
- Support JD Edwards Address book administration including verifying and managing Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT and ACH) enrollments.
- Strengthening and fostering relationships with vendors and suppliers through timely payments and issue resolution.
- Assisting in streamlining and improving the policies, procedures and processes related to the above activities. Provide specialist advice on cash flow management, investment strategies, and accounts receivable processes to ensure long-term financial sustainability.
- Collaborating and advising other department staff on the policies, procedures and processes related to above activities.
Your Professional Skillset And Experience
- Post-secondary education or course work in accounting or related discipline, complemented by a minimum of 2 years’ cash handling and Investment management and financial analysis related experience.
- Thorough knowledge of City departments, as well as the City’s Financial policies will be an asset.
- Proficiency in Tempest, JD Edwards, Sympro, and Microsoft Office Suite, (including Word, Excel, and Outlook), is preferred. Experience with financial risk assessment, collections, and bankruptcy regulations will be considered an asset.
- Financial Institution work Experience and successful completion of Canadian Securities course will also be considered an asset.
- Requires significant attention to detail, concentration, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, to successfully complete multiple concurrent pieces of work
- Successful relationship and communication skills, to effectively deal with a variety of stakeholders
