The Opportunity
Under general direction of and in consultation with the Director, Performing and Fine Arts, you excel at coordinating and providing support for all arts events and related activities in the Performing Arts and Creative Writing departments, and the Amelia Douglas Gallery. You play a key role coordinating Arts events at Douglas College include theatrical performances, concerts, recitals and gallery exhibitions. You also provide exceptional client-centered service on a consistent basis to all stakeholder groups.

WHAT IT TAKES
- The successful completion of a two-year post-secondary diploma or Associate of Arts degree, with an emphasis in arts management or a performing arts / creative field and two years’ work experience in a directly related position. An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
- Good working knowledge of the local arts environment and demonstrated interest in the performing and creative arts;
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in marketing and communication, preferably in an arts-based context;
- Demonstrated skills and experience with social media platforms. Related experience in content planning, creation, and scheduling an asset;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, and familiar with Adobe Creative Suite and/or multimedia creation and editing tools. Experience working within brand standards is an asset;
- Desktop layout and design experience; demonstrated proficiency with design software (such as InDesign, Photoshop or similar). Knowledge of website design and maintenance; knowledge of computer applications, including basic office software (Excel, Word, Outlook). Video editing experience is an asset;
- Excellent communication skills including a good working knowledge of the English language (written and verbal). Proficient copy writing, editing, and proof-reading skills; A background in programming and planning concerts and events including writing, editing, and proof-reading related copy. Experience with preparing artist calls and service contracts is an asset;

Additional Information
This temporary full-time (35 hours per week) position is available starting July 28 2025. Regular hours of work are Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Shift days and times may change depending on the Department’s need. Occasional evening and/or weekend work will be required. The position is located at the New Westminster campus. Douglas College is committed to supporting a healthy work/life balance for employees. A modified schedule may be considered,.
