About the role

Under minimal supervision, the Setup Technician is responsible for the setup operations for shearing, forming, punching, deburring, and fabrication of heavy formed components made of stainless steel and/or other alloys for internal customers. The individual must achieve Bobrick standards of safety, product quality, and productivity by continuously upgrading his/her job skills in keeping with changing technology. In addition, they must function in a cooperative and supportive manner with all Bobrick employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Read travelers, blueprints and/or follow the instructions to ascertain the setup and materials required.
  • Setup and operate all available machinery in the Fabrication department including but not limited to Fladder, Small Shear (4ft Shear), Power Notcher, Hand tools, Multi-cells, Small Punch Presses (80 Ton Komatsu, 120 Ton Aida and 150 Ton Aida), Large Punch Presses (330 Ton Komatsu and 300 Ton All Steel), Small Press brakes (25-ton Gasparini and 50-Ton Accupress), Large Press Brakes (45 Ton All Steel, 65 Ton All Steel, 160Ton Yawei, 130 Ton Accupress), Large Shears (12’).
  • Train employees in setup, machine operation, and safe working procedures.
  • Carry out basic troubleshooting in the event of an equipment failure.
  • Assist operators in troubleshooting work-related issues or problems when appropriate.
  • Report actual or anticipated equipment or tooling issues, material shortages, procedural deficiencies, and safety, quality, housekeeping or material handling discrepancies to the department lead/supervisor as needed.
  • Check incoming and outgoing material for quality and quantity. Prepare the necessary documentation as required.
  • Advise and coordinate with other functions or supervision when there is a machine breakdowns and quality defects.
  • Maintain a healthy and safe environment by keeping the work area clean, ensuring materials are positioned correctly and following safe operating procedures.
  • Maintain equipment in good functional order.
  • Follow the lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedure during machine breakdowns and applicable setup tasks, and report to the department lead or supervisor when required.
  • Report any unsafe conditions/hazards to the department supervisor immediately.
  • Participate and produce new improvements continually.
  • Participate and support projects, charter teams and events to meet the company's stated goals and budget.
  • Install tooling and program depth gauges to various sizes and degrees to bend, from simple to more complex parts.
  • Completes equipment pre-start checklist daily.
  • Use all protective devices with guards properly set and in good repair.
  • Report any problems in business or equipment to the lead person and/or supervisor.
  • Operate all fabrication machinery in accordance with established safety procedures, either in addition to performing setups or when setup tasks are unavailable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the department supervisor.

Pay: $29.00/hour - $36.25/hour
