About the Position: We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Institutional Sales Professional to join our team, as VP, Institutional Sales. Reporting to Founder and CEO, you will be responsible for developing and executing a proactive capital raising strategy targeting institutional clients, with a focus on private equity real estate. In addition to capital raising, the successful candidate will actively contribute to strategic initiatives aligned with the broader corporate business objectives.
Key Functions and Responsibilities:
- Develop and Execute Relationship Strategies: Design, implement, and manage strategies to engage a diverse range of institutional prospects. This includes identifying key decision-makers and positioning the firm’s offerings effectively.
- Capital Raise: Implement institutional capital raising initiatives, including identifying and targeting potential investors, presenting and closing investment opportunities.
- Prospect Engagement: Build and nurture deep, long-term relationships with key institutional prospects.
- Collaboration with Internal Teams: Partner with internal stakeholders, including senior management, to align capital raising and relationship strategies with the firm’s broader business objectives.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Track record of building and maintaining relationships with institutional clients across Canada.
- Strong business development orientation with the ability to collaborate effectively to achieve targets.
- Exposure to, or a desire to deepen expertise in, alternative investments.
- In-depth understanding of the challenges facing institutional clients, including pension plans (DB and DC), endowments and foundations, and family offices.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
Education & Qualifications:
- A relevant undergraduate degree and professional qualifications.
- CAIA and/or CFA designation is preferred.
- Over 10 years of industry experience in an institutional sales capacity.
- Significant experience in asset management or investment consulting is essential.
- Strong knowledge of alternative investment strategies is desirable.
- Established relationships with a wide range of institutional clients, particularly in private market strategies (e.g., Real Estate, Private Credit, Infrastructure, Private Equity), is highly desirable.
