The School of Arts & Technology is seeking a qualified instructor to teach DFAB 105 Design for Additive Manufacturing and DFAB 106 Additive Manufacturing I in the Digital Fabrication and Design Diploma program located at the Selkirk College campus in Trail, BC. Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide instruction to students in the Digital Fabrication and Design program
- Prepare and deliver teaching strategies and assessments that meet course learning outcomes including fundamental 3D design skills using Fusion 360 software
- Ensure students adhere to standard operating procedures; correctly install, operate and maintain all machines; and follow safety protocols
- Ensure curriculum alignment with the Selkirk College Strategic Plan and industry trends
- Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback in a timely manner
- Be a positive and active participant in the program’s responsibilities
- Create and maintain a positive and respectful learning environment, while acting with professionalism at all times
- Maintain student records, grades, and course outlines, while adhering to institutional standards and expectations for professional practice
- Other related duties as assigned by the School Chair
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Strong experience in Autodesk Fusion 360 as a solid and parametric 3D modeling software
- Strong knowledge of additive manufacturing processes, including design-for-additive principles, materials, print orientation, support structures and post-processing techniques
- Hands-on experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting FDM and SLA 3D printers.
- Fluency in a slicing software (e.g., Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, PreForm)
- Understanding of solid mechanics theory and calculations, including tensile testing procedures
- Experience creating and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for machine maintenance and lab safety
- Experience producing functional parts and assemblies using AM.
- Knowledge of Bill of Material (BOM) creation, 2D technical drawings, and cost estimation for parts and assemblies.
- Knowledge of environmental impacts and sustainability considerations in materials selection and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to lead and assess collaborative student projects involving mechanical design, human-centered design, and interdisciplinary teamwork
- Openness to feedback and commitment to reflective teaching practices
- Strong desire to collaborate with colleagues, contributing to a positive, respectful, and innovative teaching environment
Education and Experience
- Successful completion of a BA degree in a related program such as industrial design, fabrication, or engineering. Lesser qualifications may be considered with relevant experience.
- Training in education, preferably adult education, strongly recommended.
- Three to five years of directly related experience.
- Post-secondary teaching experience is an asset.
- Demonstrated curriculum development skills is an asset.
- Applicants should include an electronic portfolio of at least 10 pieces demonstrating their skills.
This is a short-term, part-time (42%) position, commencing December 17, 2025, and ending April 24, 2026**. Salary and Benefits are in accordance with the SCFA Collective Agreement. The salary range is $2,709.12 - $4,341.23 bi-weekly (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications and experience.**
