About the role
Tomlinson is seeking a dynamic, and experienced Events and Marketing Lead to oversee the planning, execution, and strategic alignment of company events and manage a variety of day-to-day marketing duties including. This role is pivotal in driving the company's internal and external engagement through event management, merchandise strategy, and integrated marketing campaigns. In addition to managing the Events and Merchandise Coordinator and Marketing Assistant, the Events and Marketing Lead will collaborate closely with creative, digital, and sales teams to deliver high-impact brand experiences.
Location: 100 Citigate Drive, Ottawa ON
This position is full time in the office.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee the strategic planning and delivery of internal, client-facing, and community events (10–500+ attendees), ensuring consistent branding, messaging, and quality.
- Approve and manage event and merchandise budgets, including forecasting, tracking, and post-event analysis.
- Direct the merchandise strategy for the Red Army Store and employee gift programs, including product selection, vendor coordination, inventory, and promotional planning.
- Plan and execute marketing campaigns in alignment with sales goals and strategies.
- Contribute to company branding and content development (e.g., web, email, signage, video).
- Collaborate on digital content, social media, and branding across platforms and mediums (e.g., web, email, video, signage).
- Represent the marketing function in cross-departmental meetings and strategic planning sessions.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement through campaign performance reviews, event feedback, and data-driven insights.
- Lead and mentor the Events and Merchandise Coordinator and Marketing Assistant, ensuring effective planning, execution, and reporting across all initiatives.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or related field.

5+ years in marketing and event management experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Proven success managing events of various scales and overseeing merchandise programs.

Strong understanding of marketing strategy, branding, and campaign execution.

Experience with project management tools, CRMs (Salesforce), online storefronts, and analytics platforms.

Skilled in content planning, performance reporting, and cross-functional collaboration.

Proficient in Microsoft 365 and Adobe Creative Suite (working knowledge or ability to guide team use).

Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with management, team members, and customers where applicable.

Commitment to diversity and inclusion and understanding of the issues and challenges faced by diverse groups.

Practical experience/knowledge of the construction and/or environmental services industry is an asset
Working Conditions
- Occasional evening and weekend work required for event execution.
- Travel will be required between Tomlinson locations and event venues.
