This job offers the opportunity to work from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement. This arrangement will allow you to work some days at a TCHC work location and the rest of the time from home. The amount of time required to work at a TCHC work location is flexible, while considering operational and service delivery requirements.

Make a difference

The Business Planner is responsible for developing and implementing annual business unit planning, policy, processes, procedures, project managing the development and implementation of strategic plans and strategic initiatives and supporting strategy and performance reporting.

The Business Planner is also responsible for developing, implementing and supporting initiatives and stakeholder relationships that further TCHC and ITS strategic goals and its leadership role in building technology-related value and capacity within TCHC and with our various stakeholders and partner organizations in a manner that supports TCHC’s tenant-focused culture.

The Business Planner will support or facilitate operational activities for the ITS business unit including departmental communications and office services related responsibilities.

What you’ll do

Develop and Implement Strategic Initiatives:

  • Plan, co-ordinate, communicate, monitor, and report on the implementation of strategic and operational initiatives
  • Ensure initiatives are delivered in accordance with internal, shareholder or other requirements
  • Consult with teams across business units as appropriate
  • Develop, project manage, and support review of organizational performance by senior ITS management; review and analyze performance measurement results and progress updates on divisional work
  • Develop recommendations to improve business processes.

Provide support for management relationships with the stakeholder and the ITS Service Manager by coordinating strategic initiatives and fulfilling reporting requirements:

  • Monitor, track and verify all reporting requirements from the Shareholder
  • Build relationships with management within ITS and other business units to collaborate on joint projects and annual reporting processes
  • Consult and collaborate with other business units and executives leadership as appropriate to gain their feedback on content areas
  • Coordinate joint initiatives between ITS and other business units
  • Project manage the delivery of key internal change projects including changes to policies, procedures and business processes as required

Plan and coordinate with ITS Teams other divisions to review, update and create new processes, policies, and procedures for the business of the ITS business unit, and where ITS unit is the policy holder or subject matter expert, plan coordinate, communicate and monitor the implementation of policies, processes, standards, protocols and procedures including any changes:

  • Consult with relevant internal and external stakeholders on the development of new policies, standards, processes, and procedures
  • Project manage the development and implementation of new policies and procedures as necessary
  • Collaborate with strategic communications and learning and organizational development to develop an implementation plan for newly developed policies and procedures
  • In partnership with other divisions, coordinate and monitor staff learning initiatives and management meetings related to policies and procedures

Develop reports, papers, briefing notes and presentations for internal use and to communicate to stakeholders:

  • Create reports for ITS management and leadership on matters including policy, standards, processes, strategic planning, governance/performance measures, evaluation, strategic initiatives, sector relations, and other areas and provides advice and expertise to the business unit on improving management reports.
  • Draft ELT/BIFAC/Board reports, support KPIs data collections and reporting, supporting procurement VACs and reporting, and budget planning/coordination.
  • Write reports for ITS management and leadership as required

What you’ll need

  • Combination of post-secondary education in business administration or other relevant field (preferably a Commerce Degree, Public Administration, etc.)
  • 5 years of experience (work & co-op) including (public corporate environment, not for profit) in one or more of the following areas; strategic planning, data analysis to support decision making, creation and monitoring of accountability systems (auditing customer invoicing), software licensing, contractor procurement framework.
  • Previous experience in a public sector IT department would be an asset
  • Technology experience (e.g. ServiceNow, SharePoint, MS Office, MS Visio, MS Project, PowerBI)
  • Strong customer and stakeholder orientation
