About the role
Position Summary:
The Afterschool Playground Monitor plays a key role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students during afterschool hours. This individual supervises students on the playground, promotes positive behavior, engages with students and families, and ensures a smooth and safe dismissal process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and monitor student behavior on the playground during afterschool hours.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all students.
- Actively engage with students in a positive and supportive manner.
- Communicate courteously and effectively with parents and guardians.
- Escort students to their cars or designated pick-up areas upon parent arrival.
- Monitor the flow of traffic and student movement during dismissal to ensure safety.
- Report any behavioral or safety concerns to the appropriate staff or supervisor.
- Follow school policies and procedures related to student supervision and dismissal.
- Ensure playground is clean before leaving for the day.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain alert, proactive, and calm in a busy outdoor environment.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must pass background check requirements as mandated by the province.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 12 per week
