About the role
Hawksworth Restaurant Group is looking for interested Sommeliers and Commis Sommeliers to join Hawksworth and Nightingale's Wine Team. Nightingale's approach to dining introduces simple seasonal dishes -- packed with natural flavour -- that focus on quality, excellence and fun. Served up in a lively space, our fresh crudo and charcuterie, creative house-made pastas, pizzas, crisp salads and seasonal veggie dishes can be enjoyed with friends old and new; paired with local craft beers, complementing wines or on-tap gin & tonics from the buzzing bar. Hawksworth Restaurant is world renown and celebrates Vancouver's cultural diversity and natural environment with showcase ingredient-led, contemporary cuisine. Hawksworth is located in the heart of the city at Georgia and Howe Streets within the legendary Rosewood Hotel Georgia.
We are currently looking for educated and enthusiastic full-time Sommeliers to join our amazing team of wine professionals!
Who Are You You have expert knowledge about grape varieties or regions, along with harvest times, climates, history, vineyard(s), and soils
You're constantly updating your knowledge with current trends while deepening your understanding of the winemaking process
You have the ability to answer a vast number of questions from patrons as well as peers
You are active in the wine community -- constantly attending and developing your palate through formal wine tastings, trade fairs, and tasting groups
Qualifications Previous experience in a similar restaurant setting
The ideal candidate will have a sommelier certification (or be working towards the final level)
Quick reaction times with accuracy and integrity
Fantastic, proven communication skills
