The Department of Gender Equality & Social Justice, Religions & Cultures and Indigenous Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Nipissing University invites applications for a 10-month Limited Term Faculty Appointment. This position is at the Lecturer or Assistant Professor rank and will start August 1, 2025. This position is located in North Bay, Ontario. Preference will be given to candidates who self-identify as Indigenous and demonstrate community connection.

The ideal candidate will have:

• An MA/MSc or PhD/EdD in Indigenous Studies or a closely related discipline with a preferred emphasis on Indigenous cultural studies and/or Indigenous health and community development.

The successful candidate will draw on Indigenous ways of knowing and methodologies to teach courses in the existing undergraduate program in Indigenous Studies. Teaching support and some supplemental materials will be made available upon request. The candidate will be responsible for delivering six courses in the program and should be prepared to teach some or all of the following courses:

• INDG 1006 - Madjitang (In the Beginning): An Introduction to Indigenous Studies

• INDG-2006 - Indigenous Places—Changing Landscapes

• INDG 2026 - Indigenous Art and Creativity

• INDG 2907 - Indigenous Philosophy-Bimaadsiwin

• INDG 3106 - Indigenous Health & Wellness

• INDG 3606 - Special Topics in Indigenous Studies

• INDG 3706 - Indigenous Data Sovereignty

The annual salary will correspond with qualifications and experience and will follow the Nipissing University Faculty Association (NUFA) Full-time Academic Staff Bargaining Unit Collective Agreement . The salary for a 10-month Lecturer position will be prorated from an annual range of $65,767 to $99,079 CAD. The salary for a 10-month Assistant Professor position will be prorated from an annual range of $85,372 to $130,606 CAD.
