Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

The instructor is responsible for the administration and in-person delivery of MTHA 2000, Multivariable Calculus, in person on the Truro campus in the Fall 2025 semester. The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, labs, tutorials, test preparation, and evaluation. Student contact through office hours will also be required. The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

MTHA 2000 is scheduled for in person lectures on Tuesdays and Thursdays 16:05-17:25, and tutorials on Tuesdays 9:35-11:25.

This course covers functions of several variables: vectors, dot product, cross product, differentiation and integration of vector-valued functions, space curves, partial derivatives, optimization, multiple integrals and their applications, vector fields, line integrals, flux integrals, divergence and curl, Stokes Theorem, and the Divergence Theorem.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position

The successful candidate should have a graduate degree or equivalent academic experience in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related degree. Prior experience teaching mathematics to university-level engineering and agricultural students, with an ability to provide practical application of course content is a considerable asset. Candidates must have a strong background and interest in teaching, good communication skills, and the ability to work as a team member. Experience in the learning management system used at Dalhousie University (Brightspace) is an asset.
