We are hiring for this position out of our Toronto and Vancouver offices. Successful candidates who apply outside of these areas will be expected to relocate and reside in a location that is within a commutable distance.
Role Overview:
This position reports to the AVP of Market & Liquidity Risk within the Balance Sheet Risk team. The role is instrumental in supporting Treasury and Finance in managing the Group’s market and liquidity risks. It also plays a key role in coordinating risk-related activities for the Asset Liability Committee and the Board Risk Committee.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Treasury, Finance, and other internal stakeholders to provide effective risk oversight. Core responsibilities include monthly risk monitoring and reporting, periodic reviews and documentation of models and assumptions, and contributing to the enhancement of the company’s risk management framework. The role also involves addressing internal audit and regulatory findings, as applicable.
Additionally, the individual will be responsible for conducting a variety of monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc analyses, as assigned.
About the Day-to-Day:
- Prepare the monthly risk reporting for ALCo.
- Review and oversight of balance sheet ALM assumptions.
- Oversight of Liquidity Reporting, including independent validation and assurance.
- Oversight of IRRBB reporting, including independent validation and assurance.
- Review and Challenge of Treasury Tools, including vendor’s risk report testing and validation.
- Review and Challenge of Hedging Programs.
- Maintain internal control and procedural documents.
- Manage intern resources as needed.
About the Qualifications:
- 4+ years working in Treasury and Market Risk Management at Canadian Financial institutions.
- Education/Certification: Post secondary degrees in Finance or quantitative discipline. CFA or FRM are preferred.
- Good understanding of ALM concepts for the Banking Book, including hedging and management of Duration and IRRBB limits.
- Good understanding and experience in modeling banking products for ALM, with hands on experience using balance sheet management solutions such as QRM, Bancware, Empyrean, etc
- Expert knowledge of OSFI Liquidity Adequacy Requirements, with sufficient knowledge to implement LCR and NCCF reporting from source systems.
- Familiarity with CMHC MBS and CMB securitization programs is strong asset.

About the work environment:

Compensation:
Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary plus a discretionary profit share opportunity. Salary for this position will vary between $100,000 and $110,000 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience that the chosen candidate possesses.
