About the role
SMS Equipment is seeking an Accounting Clerk for our Corporate Office located in Acheson, AB. This position is a Temporary Full-Time role and will provide parental leave coverage for a term of approximately 20 months. The incumbent will be responsible for providing accounting support and activities that support treasury, cash application and fixed assets.
This position offers a hybrid work environment, providing the opportunity to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
The salary range for this position is $57,000-$62,000. This temporary position is eligible for extended health benefits.
What you’ll do:

Support daily treasury activities, including preparing banking reports, setting up wire transfers, and managing forward contracts.

Coordinate with financial institutions on banking transactions and loan management.

Manage fixed assets by ensuring timely capitalization and disposal of fixed assets, analysis of Construction in process, depreciation posting, and maintaining continuity schedules.

Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and subledgers, investigating discrepancies and preparing necessary journal entries.

Provide cash application support and coverage, including applying payments to customer AR accounts and reconciling unapplied cash.

Collaborate with internal teams to resolve banking inquiries and support audit requirements related to customer payments.
What you bring:
The successful candidate will possess an Accounting Diploma and/or Degree and 1-3 years’ experience in a related role.
Additional requirements include:
- Experience in Accounts Receivable or Fixed asset management is an asset
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work in a team or individualized environment to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- Detail-oriented with a keen willingness to learn
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management skills to complete cash application & treasury tasks that are time sensitive
- Ability to communicate and develop rapport with finance personnel and operations
