About the role
We are looking for an optometric assistant who is compassionate, friendly, and willing to learn new skills in order to help us continue our high quality of patient care.
As one of our team members you will be responsible for maintaining a welcoming, calm and organized environment for our patients, their families and your co-workers. Expectations include: Reception and pre-test duties primarily, minor dispensing secondarily.
Position duties
-Welcome patients and visitors to our office in a warm and friendly fashion.
-Help maintain proper patient service operations in office. This includes maintaining a calm, welcoming environment.
-Answer phone calls from our general access phone number.
-Respond to emails from patients using our general office email system.
-Ensure that required patient forms have the necessary fields filled.
-Utilize Visual Eyes [our Electronic Medical Record software] to enter patient data, book appointments, and schedule recalls.
-Maintain confidentiality of all patient files.
-Process payments for patient invoices for services and products rendered.
-Process patients third party billing information.
-Use basic medical testing equipment for patient eye health screening.
-Help us continue to strive for excellent patient care
When primary opticians unavailable: assist in frame and lens selection/measurements, adjust and fit eyewear, verification and troubleshooting
Skills required for position

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

A willingness and ability to learn

Strong interpersonal communication skills

Basic computer knowledge and skill

At least one year of previous industry experience

Ability to work as a team or independently

Excellent time management and organizational skills
