The Division of Internal Medicine at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) is seeking full-time General Internal medicine Specialists to join our group.
Our General Internal Medicine group at NRGH currently has 10 members, who are a collegial group of colleagues. There are sub-specialists within the hospital including Cardiology, Hematology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Infectious Disease, Respirology, Neurology, and Endocrinology, and has a large hospitalist service (220/330 patients) and is the backbone most responsible physician (MRP) service of the hospital. Although we have a limited on-site cardiology group (2 currently, but growing!), there is timely access to a large cardiology group in Victoria.
In this position you would receive free overhead clinic space with EMR support. The ward weeks are remunerated at a competitive hourly rate (APP, service contract). We have an associate physician who assists the ward physician with patient management.
Our hospital is a primary referral centre for central Vancouver Island. It serves an immediate population of 125,000 and a secondary population of 330,000 and is a 345 bed hospital, with extensive diagnostic services, dedicated ICU (separate from Internal Medicine), and a renal dialysis centre.
Our hospital is a residency site for UBC’s Family Practice Residency Program.
The ideal candidates we are looking to join our group will be eligible for FRCPC - Internal Medicine with the Royal College of Canada, and be eligible for licensure with the CPSBC.

Full- time: 3 x 24-hour call shifts (or 3 day + 3 night) per month (fee for service + MOCAP)
8 to 10 weeks of daytime (9-5) ward coverage (10-15 medicine patients)
