In 2022, CAMH was announced as the lead for the coordination and administration of 9-8-8, the new national three-digit number for suicide prevention in Canada, that launched November 30, 2023. 9-8-8 is Canada’s official three-digit national helpline for suicide prevention and emotional distress. This ground-breaking new service is available 24/7/365 and accessible to everyone from coast to coast to coast. CAMH is working closely with the federal government and key partners from different groups and communities, provinces, territories and building on our work on Talk Suicide Canada, to bring this high quality, evidence-based, equitable suicide prevention service to Canada.

Position Description Talk Suicide Canada/9-8-8 is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced full-time, contract (Until March 31st 2026) Information Specialist to join our team in transforming the way people in Canada access support for suicide prevention and emotional distress. Reporting to the Program Manager, Service & Operations, the Information Specialist will lead the ongoing management and enhancement of internal and external databases focused on crisis and distress services and other essential resources that support the safety and wellbeing of people across Canada. This role is critical in ensuring the comprehensiveness, accuracy, and relevance of the resources made available. The information specialist will collaborate with internal teams and external interest holders to align resource content with the evolving needs of the network and contribute to a seamless user experience. The position involves strategic oversight and hands-on execution of process related to resource intake, validation, and updates ,as well as support for the migration of resource information into a CRM platform. The Information Specialist plays a key role in fostering interest holder engagement, external partnerships, and enhancing communication and awareness around resource availability and use.

The Information Specialist Will

  • Maintain and update internal and external resource databases, ensuring information is accurate, comprehensive, and aligned with the needs of service users and network partners
  • Collaborate with internal teams, 9-8-8 network partners, and external interest holders to identify resource needs and best practices, fostering meaningful engagement, input and collaboration
  • Evaluate and enhance database-related processes, implementing tools and workflows to improve accuracy, efficiency, and ease of access
  • Assist in the planning, testing, and implementation of resource database migration to a CRM platform, ensuring smooth data transition and continued data integrity
  • Work closely with teams such as Quality Assurance, Communications, and Operations to ensure consistent and coordinated resource strategies
  • Implement systems for tracking resource updates, usage, and feedback; generate regular reports on resource metrics and trends
  • Develop and support initiatives that promote awareness and understanding of available resources across the network
  • Ensure all resource content and processes adhere to organizational standards, conducting regular audits to maintain high quality and relevance.

Job Requirements The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Science or health related field combined with two (2) years of related experience. Experience in mental health and/or academic setting is an asset. You will have proficiency with word processing, Outlook, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and ability to learn new computer software systems. Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g. Oracle) would be an asset. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, organization skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with minimal supervision are required. You will have sound analytical and problem-solving skills and must demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures. You will be detail-oriented, flexible, adaptable and customer-service oriented. The candidate will possess the ability to work with individuals of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.
