About the role

Overview:

As a key member of the Global Food Leadership Team, the Senior Director of Sales is responsible for achieving annual sales revenue targets aligned with the organization’s growth and profitability goals, grounded in relevant market share data. This role oversees a global team of sales professionals, focusing on strategic account management, regional sales execution, and customer satisfaction. The role also ensures contract, technical, and operational reviews are conducted with discipline to mitigate risk to the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a global sales team, including strategic account leaders, regional territory managers, and international account teams.
  • Provide coaching, development, and performance management to all sales professionals.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales plans for the Food Platform, focusing on end-user and contractor engagement.
  • Build and manage a 3-Year Sales Strategy aligned with the Global Food Platform’s long-term strategic goals.
  • Lead negotiations with key customers, involving senior leadership and cross-functional support as needed.
  • Drive business development in a Request for Quotation (RFQ) and Engineered-to-Order (ETO) environment, collaborating with internal project teams to align on project scope and execution.
  • Oversee the review of commercial contracts, ensuring clarity on complex terms and identifying and mitigating operational, commercial, and legal risks.
  • Track and report sales performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior leadership.
  • Partner with the Marketing team to develop and implement an integrated marketing strategy.
  • Provide input and market feedback to support Product Development strategies.
  • Compile and analyze sales data for forecasting, planning, and performance analysis.
  • Monitor customer accounts and assist with collections as needed.
  • Coordinate company presence at trade shows and industry events, ensuring alignment across all divisions.
  • Evaluate sales effectiveness across regions, accounts, and teams; recommend areas for improvement.
  • Gather and share competitive intelligence to inform strategic decisions.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to support the broader 3-Year Strategic Plan for the Global Food business.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field. Additional certifications in sales management or food/pet food equipment products are preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant industry experience, including at least 5 years in a senior sales leadership role.
  • Bilingual in French and English strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical acumen to understand and communicate complex customer needs and translate them into tailored solutions.
  • Proven experience with commercial contracts and navigating legal terms and conditions.
  • Exceptional relationship-building, negotiation, and customer service skills.
  • Highly organized with strong time management and prioritization abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing remote, geographically dispersed sales teams.
  • Strong business analysis and project management capabilities.
