ABOUT INUVIALUIT REGIONAL CORPORATION (IRC)
IRC was created in 1984 to represent the Inuvialuit and their rights and benefits obtained under one of Canada's oldest comprehensive land claim agreements. With assets over $1 billion, not including vast land holdings, IRC is responsible for corporate investment, land management, and a broad range of social, cultural, and economic programs and services benefiting Inuvialuit. Its subsidiaries have interests in grocery, manufacturing, property management, transportation, and significant dealings in the oil and gas industry.

JOB SUMMARY
The Head Cook plays a lead role in the Inuvialuit School Foods Program (ISFP), ensuring the preparation, cooking, and serving of nutritious meals to students across the Inuvialuit Settlement Region (ISR). Under the guidance of the Regional Manager, School Foods Program, the Head Cook is responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring food safety compliance, managing inventory and supplies, and maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment.
This position requires strong leadership skills, culinary expertise, and a commitment to food safety and nutrition. The successful candidate will work closely with educators, school staff, and the Assistant Cook to ensure that every school child and adolescent in ISR has access to hot, balanced meals for all 195 school days of the year.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be/have:

Culinary Diploma, Line-Cook Certificate, or experience as a Head Cook or Camp Cook.

Reliable Monday to Friday during the school year.
-
Ability to lift up to 15 kg (33 lbs).
-
Leadership experience in a kitchen setting.
-
Ability to arrive on time consistently and work early mornings.
-
Strong organizational skills to manage kitchen operations and food procurement.
Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
-
Experience working with children and youth.
-
Food Safety Certification (HACCP, First Aid, WHMIS).
-
Experience in budgeting and food supply coordination.
-
Experience in community health or nutrition programs.
-
Willingness and ability to travel to Inuvik occasionally for training.
