About the role

Job Summary:

In accordance with the established vision and values of The Centre for Child Development, you will provide childcare services in designated childcare facilities such as a preschool, daycare, or school age program to provide an inclusive environment which meets the needs of all children. You will work closely with parents, peers, Early Childhood Educators, SCD Consultants and other professionals. For this job it is important to demonstrate flexibility with days, shifts and placement locations.

Join our team and you will have a chance to gain valuable experience in a variety of settings as you hone your skills working with the children who need your support.

Qualifications Requirements:

  • ECE certification preferred. Experience as a Child and Youth Care Worker, an Education Assistant, or having a Responsible Adult certificate, or other equivalent experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of one-year recent related experience working in an early childhood education setting
  • Comfortable using software programs
  • Valid First Aid Certificate as per childcare licensing requirements
  • Valid BC Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for work purposes
  • Criminal Record Review acceptable to The Centre.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

WHO WE ARE Serving children with special needs and their families since 1953, we provide specialized pediatric medical rehabilitation services and supports to more than 3,200 children with special needs and their families through ~30,000 service sessions/yr in Surrey, South Surrey, White Rock, Delta, Langley and other areas of the Lower Mainland. Our newest program is "Sophie's Place" Child Advocacy Centre.

THE CENTRE FOR CHILD DEVELOPMENT is a 'one stop shop' for children with special needs and their families through specialized paediatric psychologists, family service & parent support workers, key workers, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, physiotherapists, early childhood educators, supported child development consultants & teachers, recreation specialists, technicians, a dietician and a Doctor specializing in developmental paediatrics.

SOPHIE'S PLACE is a child and youth advocacy centre focused on providing specialized services to physically and/or sexually abused children up to age 18 in a child-friendly setting. Sophie's Place is the result of significant collaboration between the Surrey RCMP, Ministry of Children and Family Development, City of Surrey, Ministry of Justice Victim Services and Crime Prevention, and The Centre for Child Development. Sophie's Place enables the collaborating agencies to respond to child abuse in a compassionate and highly integrated manner.
