About the role

We are seeking a high-energy, knowledgeable Drag Racing Track Announcer to bring the excitement of every pass down the strip to life for fans and racers alike. As the voice of the track, you'll be responsible for live commentary that informs, entertains, and engages the crowd—whether it’s a local bracket race or a major national event. From burnouts to big wins, you’ll call the action with accuracy, personality, and passion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver fast-paced, accurate, and entertaining play-by-play commentary during drag racing events.

  • Announce racer names, car numbers, classes, elapsed times (ET), reaction times (RT), and speeds.

  • Provide background information on drivers, cars, engine setups, and racing classes.

  • Build energy in the stands with dynamic callouts for burnouts, staging duels, holeshots, and final-round showdowns.

  • Keep spectators informed of schedule updates, delays, pairings, and safety announcements.

  • Engage the crowd during downtime with sponsor promotions and interviews.

  • Work closely with race control, timing and scoring personnel, and starter crews for up-to-the-moment information.

  • Support marketing by promoting upcoming events, sponsors, and track merchandise.

  • Maintain professional voice presence over the public address (PA) and/or live stream.

Requirements:

  • Experience as an announcer or emcee in motorsports, ideally within drag racing.

  • Strong understanding of drag racing rules, formats (bracket, heads-up, index, etc.), and terminology.

  • Confident public speaker with a clear, commanding, and enthusiastic voice.

  • Ability to pronounce racer and sponsor names correctly and deliver time-sensitive information under pressure.

  • Familiarity with drag racing timing systems (e.g., Compulink).

  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and stand or talk for extended periods.

  • Available on weekends, evenings, and during major racing holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience announcing at NHRA, IHRA, or local drag strips.

  • Familiarity with Jr. Dragsters, Pro Mods, Top Sportsman, Funny Cars, etc.

  • Experience with livestream platforms, radio broadcast, or PA systems.

Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal

Pay: $17.85 per hour
