The Investment Operations team is responsible for all accounting and valuations for Canada Life segregated funds and general account assets.
The Associate Manager is responsible for managing key aspects of Investment Operations functions and will play a significant role in the daily fund valuation process. This position is responsible for providing oversight in our daily procedures and activities. In addition, the Associate Manager provides guidance and training to other employees in the unit including the review of other employee’s work and leading projects. This individual provides support to management, is responsible for initiating and implementing process improvements, and assists with development of financial control processes. This role is aligned to our Winnipeg Head Office location.
What you will do
- Provide oversight and review of daily, month-end and quarter-end trading operations
- Responsible for oversight of manual and automated trading process.
- Interact professionally and develop business relationships with key business partners such as: Custodian Bank, Investment Managers, and internal departments.
- Support continuous improvement and be involved in streamlining and documentation of processes
- Participate and lead implementation of departmental initiatives and special projects
- Directly support junior employees in problem solving and assists management team with planning individual career development of employees, and workload balancing.
- Responsible for training others in the department
- Provide direct leadership to operations team, including coaching/training new leaders
- Participate in departmental business and resource planning
What you will bring
- University degree, majoring in accounting and/or finance, with a professional accounting designation
- Completion of the Canadian Securities Course would be considered an asset
- Experience with segregated funds, mutual funds and securities/investments would be considered an asset
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong leadership skills with ability to lead processes and develop strong team members.
- Experience with supervising and/or leading employees within a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities while managing deadlines.
- Well-developed organizational and time management skills, with the ability to deal with fluctuating work volumes
- Superior communication skills both verbally and in written form.
- High energy and entrepreneurial attitude.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook and advanced Excel functions
- Strong attention to detail
The base salary for this position is between $63,500 - $117,400 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
