Reporting to the AVP, Cybersecurity Operations, the Security Analyst will provide operational and administrative support to the cybersecurity engineering team. This role is well-suited for individuals at the start of their cybersecurity careers and offers hands-on experience with enterprise-grade security tools and platforms. The analyst will contribute to the smooth operation of data loss prevention (DLP), endpoint, email, and cloud security technologies by assisting with request handling, issue triage, documentation, and ongoing operational tasks.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers to gain exposure to security platforms and foundational concepts while contributing to routine security operations and documentation upkeep.
Responsibilities
- Review and process DLP policy exemption requests (email, web, USB), including validation, logging, and revocation upon expiry.
- Assist with troubleshooting and initial triage of endpoint security issues; escalate to senior engineers or vendors when required.
- Monitor dashboards and alert queues (e.g., Microsoft Defender, DLP, Proofpoint) and document initial findings.
- Update and manage service tickets in coordination with senior team members, ensuring timely escalation and follow-ups.
- Support the deployment and verification of endpoint agents (Defender, DLP, AMA), including basic troubleshooting.
- Help maintain operational documentation including SOPs, runbooks, SharePoint content, and team knowledge bases.
- Collect and organize metrics and logs for compliance checks, tuning activities, and reporting.
- Support evidence gathering and reporting tasks for internal/external audits and scheduled controls.
- Assist in keeping the CMDB (Configuration Management Database) updated based on direction from the engineering team.
- Communicate with end-users for basic support and coordination during policy or tool changes.
- Perform other operational duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Requirements
- Degree preferred or diploma in related studies and 1-2 years of experience in IT or cybersecurity operations.
- Strong interest in cybersecurity with a desire to learn and grow.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Windows OS, and endpoint protection tools.
- Working knowledge of documentation tools such as SharePoint, Excel, and Word.
- Basic understanding of IT operations, security practices, or ticket management processes.
- Exposure to ticketing systems like ServiceNow (preferred).
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to follow structured processes and escalate issues when necessary.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Certifications
- CompTIA Security+ or CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+)
- Other entry-level cybersecurity training or IT certifications are considered an asset
Other Competencies
- Eagerness to learn and develop within the field of cybersecurity.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize routine tasks with limited supervision.
- Team player with a proactive and dependable attitude.
