About the role

Job Description :

MANAGER, INTEGRATED LOGISTICS & WARRANTY

Fleet Renewal

Victoria

The Opportunity

In order to address the challenges brought on by constrained system capacity, aging major assets, and environmental sustainability, BC Ferries has recently launched a new Fleet Renewal organization that will see a large number of new major and minor vessels introduced to the fleet in the near term as well as significant builds and upgrades to shore-based infrastructure and facilities. These projects together form the largest capital investment in the company’s history.

The Integrated Logistics & Warranty Manager is a specialized role within the Fleet Renewal team, responsible for promoting material readiness in transitioning Fleet Renewal build programs to operational service. This position provides expertise, oversight and direction of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and Material Management functions across a variety of programs, working with various stakeholders to promote asset management, inventory availability, operational support, and policy compliance. This position also manages warranty related issues for all Fleet Renewal programs, ensuring that warranty management is consistent with contractual provisions and in full support of operational requirements.

The Role

Reporting to the Director, Procurement & Commercial, this role is integral to the achievement of company objectives, and you contribute value through key areas of oversight such as:

  • Providing Integrated Logistics expertise for Fleet Renewal Programs, including vessel construction, conversions (e.g., hybrid/electric upgrades), and terminal electrification projects;
  • Participating in Engineering, Supply Chain, and any other external planning meetings to align on strategic requirements, timelines, and priorities;
  • Monitoring program timelines and coordinating with Fleet Renewal, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to remedy critical path items and de-risk the transition to operations;
  • Developing vessel transition reports for project teams and stakeholders, integrating data from Program reports, Maximo, and Oracle;
  • Creating new vessel inventory strategy based on failure mode, effects, and criticality analysis (FMECA), maintenance philosophy, class requirements and other considerations as appropriate;
  • Ensuring vessel inventory strategy is implemented as designed, with a focus on asset management, inventory availability, operational support, and policy compliance;
  • Defining and mitigating impacts of Fleet Renewal Programs on Corporate Warehousing requirements and Disposal planning;
  • Managing warranty related issues for all Fleet Renewal programs, ensuring that warranty management is consistent with contractual provisions and in full support of operational requirements;
  • Supporting Corporate ILS / Asset Management / Material Management activities;
  • Educating operational staff on required warranty procedures to ensure all warranty issues are properly managed;
  • Representing BC Ferries in negotiations with shipbuilders and vendors throughout the warranty period for each new vessel;
  • Reviewing warranty provisions in major contracts and provide subject matter expertise to the organization for current and future projects;
  • Identifying gaps or inefficiencies in transition, warranty, or material management processes and recommend improvements;
  • Assisting in the development or amendment of SOPs and corporate policy in given areas of expertise;

What you bring to the team

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a technical related field
  • 7-9 years of experience in Integrated Logistics Support, Material Management or Warranty Management in a complex operational or marine/transportation environment
