Phlebotomist - Part-time (1 position)

We are a multi-specialty clinic providing a wide variety of health care to patients of the City of Peterborough and surrounding area. Our team of specialists, family physicians, and interprofessional healthcare providers (IHP) are committed to providing excellence in patient care. We offer a variety of quality, on-site services to the community including specimen collection, X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, hearing services and pharmacy services.
As a qualified Phlebotomist working in our specimen collection center, you are responsible for:
- greeting and verifying patient identification when checking in patients
- following proper specimen collection techniques
- accurately labelling specimens
- preparing specimens for transport
- performing ECGs
- adhering to health & safety policies/procedures
- following infection control standards/guidelines
- communicating professionally, responding to patient inquiries and working closely with physician's staff
- contributing to a positive work environment
Qualifications, Skills
- graduate from MLA program or equivalent related experience (i.e. healthcare professional with training/experience in venipuncture)
- maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
- effective communication, prioritization and time management skills
- strong commitment to providing quality patient service
- proficiency in oral and written English
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- proof of current Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- double vaccinated against Covid-19
Our lab is open at 8am Monday-Friday. The successful candidate will offer flexibility with their availability to meet the needs of the department. You will be provided with a schedule in advance and have the opportunity for additional hours when the workload supports it. The position may become a permanent part-time position. You will be working with a small group of professional colleagues who consistently demonstrate a commitment to a positive experience for our patients.
