Position Title: COMPACTOR OPERATOR

Reports to: Warehouse Supervisor

Work Schedule: Regular, Full-Time, Days

Job Summary: Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, the Compactor Operator will ensure facility cleanliness, disposal of cardboard, and other production waste, in compliance with ISO standards.

Job Responsibilities:

The Compactor Operator is responsible for the following:

  • Operating a counter-balance to dispose of waste in exterior receptacles;
  • Conducting daily machinery and equipment inspections and circle checks;
  • Loading cardboard bales on to waste pick up truck;
  • Assisting in keeping the warehouse aisles clear;
  • Safe handling and operation of the counter balance;
  • Disposal of cardboard and waste;
  • Separating waste and recyclables;
  • Operating the cardboard and plastic compactors;
  • General facility housekeeping (i.e.: clearing ice and debris from building entrance and seasonal cleanup);
  • Delivering materials to office personnel as required;
  • Scheduling waste pick-ups with suppliers;
  • Maintaining a clean work environment;
  • Adhering to all company and government legislated policies and procedures; and
  • Other duties as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be capable of performing repetitive tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment;
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs+;
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods;
  • Must be able to work with others;
  • Must be able to work efficiently and effectively;
  • Must work in an organized manner;
  • Must be a critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills; and
  • Must possess a strong attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent;
  • English language proficiency (read/write/speak);
  • Valid counter-balance certification is an asset; and
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Required:

  • Steel-toed shoes
  • Safety glasses

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Mississauga, ON L5R 3M3: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Experience:

  • Counter-Balance: 3 years (preferred)
  • Manufacturing: 3 years (preferred)

Language:

  • English (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Counter-Balance certificate (preferred)
