Job Description And Responsibilities You will be responsible for picking metal off a moving conveyor and clean around the mill. You will also assists shredder mechanics in changing out conveyors, bearing shafts, and greasing.
- Keeps work area clean and ready to go daily
- Keeps conveyor pulleys clean
- Picks copper to ensure that quality material is shipped to our customers
- Reports any issues that arise immediately
- Assists shredder mechanics during projects
- Assists in meeting monthly production goals
- Must have a reliable form of transportation to and from work as there is no bus route/service to the site
Requirements
- Completion of High School and/or equivalent
- Able to meet the physical demands of the position including standing, walking, sitting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, moderate to heavy lifting and pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds throughout the day
- Willing and able to work in variable weather conditions including hot, dry summer conditions and cold, harsh winter conditions
- Willing and able to work in an environment subject to fluctuations in dust, odors, fumes, and noise
- Ability to learn and follow directions
- Mechanically inclined
- Self-motivated: Initiates and takes action before being required to do so
- Strong work ethic: uses time efficiently, works safely, and makes sure everyone around him is working safely
- Strong command of the English language both written and spoken
- Able to communicate clearly as including using a handheld radio

We are the largest North American producer by volume in the rail and large diameter pipe markets, and we hold leading positions in the Western Canada oil country tubular goods, small diameter pipe and West Coast plate markets.
