About the role

Your Opportunity:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is an exciting and critical rehabilitation position within the Community Allied Health, Edmonton Zone. Rehabilitation interventions aim to improve or maintain health across five domains: physical, nutritional, psychological, social, and modifiable risk factors clients with medical and/or surgical condition(s) who present with functional impairments that require rehabilitation in community. The RN will meet the specific health needs of patients and families along with necessary referrals to the care providers through service coordination, education, and services in virtual, in-person, and group formats. This position serves as the sole support for the medical optimization of clients within Edmonton Zone Individualized Prehabilitation program.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program.

Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)

Additional Required Qualifications:

Will need to sit for long periods with extended cognitive load using virtual services like zoom or connect care (point of care charting) for all clinical services. In a community setting, there are occasionally some physical demands with transporting equipment, therapy materials, (20 - 50lbs), bending/rotation, etc. as required for clinical duties. Recent case management or service coordination experience for clients in the community with a range of rehab clinical needs. Experience or education in Health Change Methodology and/or Behavior Change strategies. Current practice permit with a minimum of 2 years of experience in rehabilitation practice, including community rehabilitation and/or outpatient specialized service settings. Extensive knowledge of patient population needs, health care continuum and leading practices in collaborative, interdisciplinary rehabilitation. Extensive knowledge of pre-and post-surgical care need and practices. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills, including an ability to develop therapeutic relationships and navigate sensitive situations. Ability to create effective internal and external partnerships. Aptitude for performing in an environment of innovation, continuous change, learning and measurement. Excellent clinical reasoning and decision-making skills. Initiative and ability to work independently in clinical and virtual settings.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced training in chronic disease management, motivational interviewing, or geriatric rehab. Proven leadership in quality improvement. Experience in prehabilitation, data tracking, and outcome measurement. Culturally competent, with knowledge of community resources. Skilled in group education, time management, and working with diverse populations.
