About the role
Key Responsibilities:
- HR Operations & Compliance:
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Canadian federal/provincial regulations (e.g., CRA, ESA).
- Manage HR legal compliance, including employment standards, workplace safety (OHSA), and labor relations.
- Develop and update HR policies aligned with Canadian labor laws.
- Talent Acquisition & Retention:
- Lead full-cycle recruitment for retail corporate and store roles, from sourcing to onboarding.
- Partner with store managers to address hiring needs and turnover challenges in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Learning & Development (L&D):
- Design training programs for retail teams (e.g., customer service, leadership development).
- Foster a culture of continuous learning to support employee growth and retention.
- Employee Relations & Communications:
- Act as a trusted advisor for employee concerns, conflict resolution, and performance management.
- Strengthen internal communications to engage dispersed retail teams.
- Strategic HR Leadership:
- Align HR initiatives with business goals, leveraging retail industry best practices.
- Analyze HR metrics (e.g., turnover, training ROI) to drive data-driven decisions.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years HR experience, with 3+ years in retail or multi-location environments.
- Expertise in Canadian payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Ceridian) and labor law compliance.
- Proven success in TA, L&D, and employee communications.
- Strong interpersonal skills to navigate a multicultural workforce.
- CPHR designation or in progress (preferred).
