Job Summary & Requirements Renal Dialysis Technologist: Education:
- Community College diploma in electronics engineering, dialysis technology or biomedical engineering essential.
- Membership with the Canadian Association of Nephrology Nurses and Technologists, National Association of Nephrology
- Current factory training service course certificates for Dialysis Delivery System servicing
Experience:
- 2 to 5 years current experience in hemodialysis essential.
- Demonstrated leadership in a Team Leader role an asset
- Demonstrated participation in professional activities
- Demonstrated teaching skills
Competencies:
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Ability to function independently in both clinical and non-hospital setting
- Acts as a resource for staff members.
- Demonstrates ability to handle stressful situations
- Sound problem solving skills
- Computer literacy in current software applications
- Demonstrated commitment to the professional growth and development of self and others
- Must have a demonstrated ability to assess complex electronic and hydraulic systems and evaluate dialysis equipment safety functions and make independent judgements about continuation or removal of use.
- Commitment to excellence in patient care and to professional practice.
- Desire and commitment to be an integral part of a growing program
- Sound knowledge of special water systems for hemodialysis is essential
- Current knowledge of CSA and other related safety standards/legislation as they apply to medical devices and systems used in nephrology.
Position Summary: The Dialysis Technologist is responsible for overseeing and participating in the daily maintenance and servicing of the hemodialysis equipment. Provides technical support to the renal team. Coordinates the preventative maintenance of the Dialysis Machines, Portable RO’s and the water treatment plants within the RVH Regional Renal Hemodialysis units located at 66 Wellington St W, 201 Georgian Dr. Barrie ON. and Stevenson Memorial Hospital Fletcher Cres Alliston ON.

Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, located in Barrie, Ontario, provides safe, high-quality care for residents across a large geographical region including Simcoe County and the District of Muskoka. The area is home to more than 450,000 residents, with half of RVH’s patients living outside the City of Barrie.
As the largest health centre in North Simcoe Muskoka, RVH provides highly specialized services, and technology not found anywhere else in the region. This includes the only interventional radiology suites for minimally invasive surgeries, vascular services, advanced stroke care, as well as dedicated trauma rooms in its large Emergency department. RVH is also home to the Hudson Regional Cancer Centre, Simcoe Muskoka Regional Heart Program, Simcoe Muskoka Regional Child and Youth Program and the RVH Regional Renal Program meaning distance is no longer a factor for residents receiving lifesaving treatment.
