About the role
Join Our In-House Legal Team Specializing in Property and Casualty Insurance Defence. We are a dynamic legal team of over 200 professionals across five offices in Toronto, Mississauga, Aurora, Ottawa, and Calgary. As a Legal Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting our legal counsel in managing a diverse portfolio of litigation files from start to finish. These cases involve the defence of auto claims, accident benefits, bodily injury, commercial lines, property matters, subrogation, and insurance coverage issues. More specifically, you will be required to:
- Assist counsel with managing litigation files throughout the entire legal process
- Draft and edit pleadings, correspondence, and other legal documents
- Manage calendars and perform general administrative tasks
- Handle incoming client calls, including screening and directing inquiries
- Prepare court briefs and documentation for trials and arbitration hearings
- Perform electronic filing and document processing
- Provide confidential administrative support to legal counsel
- Ensure a high standard of client service and contribute to the delivery of superior legal support.

What you bring to the table
- College diploma in a related field
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience
- Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
- Experience with trials and/or arbitrations
- Knowledge of French is required
- General knowledge of court filing systems, Justice Services Online (JSO) E-filing, Sensitive Content Management (SCM), Caselines, etc.
- Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure, License Appeal Tribunal (LAT) and Insurance Defence Litigation with an emphasis in Accident Benefits and Bodily Injury work
