Our Primary Extraction Operation team (Steepbank) is looking for a skilled and motivated fixed plant operator trainee at our Baseplant location. You will perform duties associated with safe, and efficient operation in the assigned work area to meet our operational objectives while collaborating with a dynamic team.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least one year of experience in plant operations; experience in heavy oil processing, sour gas processing, water treatment/power plants or refinery operations is preferred
  • Part A of 4th Class Power Engineering certification or higher is an asset
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical aptitude to allow the hands-on operation of plant equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to make timely decisions associated with process upsets
  • Adaptive work style to handle multiple priorities and challenging demands, and function in a positive but dynamic work environment
  • Highly motivated self-starter that collaborate with others and maintain positive relationships across different teams
  • Make decisions with integrity in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value

Location and other Key Details:

  • You will work out of our Baseplant site in Fort McMurray , Alberta

  • The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)

  • This position has been identified as safety sensitive

  • You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use of ladders and working on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces

  • Your primary residence must be within 60 km of Fort McMurray
