Within the Finance Department, the Access and Privacy Branch is looking for an Access Coordinator. The Access and Privacy Branch processes requests for access to information and supports departments in fulfilling their legislative requirements under The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.

  • Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Post-secondary education in social sciences, politics / political sciences, public administration, or a related field, and related experience. A combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Experience interpreting and applying acts, regulations and/or policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and decision making skills, with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Clear and concise verbal communication skills.
  • Effective written communication skills.

Desired:

  • Knowledge of access to information legislation including The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), and The Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) or similar access to information legislation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in French.

Duties:

As a member of the Access and Privacy Branch (Finance), the Access Coordinator is responsible for assisting government departments in responding to requests for access to information under The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). The Access Coordinator will manage a large case load while ensuring legislative requirements under FIPPA are met. The Access Coordinator works closely with Access Analysts within the Branch to facilitate a whole-of-government approach and process development, and cultivates a culture of transparency throughout government.
