About the opportunity:

We’re looking for a curious, creative, and technically-minded UX Engineering Intern to help us push the boundaries of design tooling. In this role, you’ll work at the intersection of design and engineering—automating Figma workflows, building internal plugins, and streamlining the ways our product designers work.

You’ll be embedded in our Design Systems or UX Engineering team and will collaborate with designers, developers, and systems thinkers to shape the future of our design infrastructure. This role works closely with other Technical Content Developers, Software Developers, QA Analysts, and Product Managers throughout the development process to ensure documentation is accurate and complete. We are looking for someone that is inquisitive, takes the time to understand the stakeholders and can produce engaging, effective product documentation for a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

You will be joining an incredible team of collaborative, engaging, and inclusive technical content writers!

What you’ll get to do:

  • Develop custom Figma plugins and internal tools to streamline design operations.

  • Write scripts and automation to support large-scale design system maintenance and component audits.

  • Prototype experimental tooling to connect design and code more fluidly.

  • Assist in building integrations between Figma, GitHub, Storybook, or design tokens.

  • Work with design & engineering to document and improve tooling workflows.

  • Explore how AI and automation can assist designers in repetitive or complex tasks.

  • Hands-on experience working with a design system team.

  • Mentorship from design technologists, UX engineers, and systems designers.

  • A portfolio of real-world tools and plugins that impact a product team.

  • Exposure to product development workflows at a design-forward company.

Skills and experience we value:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in HCI, Computer, or a related field—or a self-taught technologist with a strong portfolio.

  • Familiarity with Figma API and Figma plugin development using TypeScript or JavaScript.

  • Basic understanding of UX/UI design principles and design systems.

  • Experience with frontend development (HTML/CSS/JS; React is a plus).

  • Bonus: Experience with automation tools (Node.js, GitHub Actions), design token formats, or Storybook.

What would really make you stand out:

  • Love bridging design and engineering through automation and experimentation.
  • Enjoy building things that make other designers and developers faster or happier.
  • See Figma not just as a canvas, but as a platform for innovation.
  • Care about elegant, scalable systems and the craft of user interface design.
