Weir Canada, Inc. Halifax, NS, Canada Permanent Full-time, Onsite work Purpose of Role: Weir Marine Engineering is currently looking for a Naval Technologist / Specialist with current or former experience in naval warfare and naval equipment operations to join our Combat and Control Systems (CCS) team at the Canadian Forces Maritime Warfare Centre (CFMWC). This permanent position based in Halifax, NS provides a range of Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E) services including liaison with ongoing naval projects and equipment managers, initiating and undertaking at-sea tests, conducting technical investigations and validating system performance / tactics effectiveness all leading to the introduction of the River Class Destroyer (RCD). Sound organizational knowledge and previous work experience with the Royal Canadian Navy is important as the work requires a collaborative approach with numerous stakeholders within RCN lines more specifically in the Naval Force Development field. This position includes a combination of office (mostly) and shipboard (sometimes) environments with occasional requirements to perform work outside or onboard ships and occasional short duration travel to other test locations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support: Participate and support to technical, tactical and engineering investigations as directed by the applicable CFMWC Battlespace; Develop, modify, support & validate related documentation and information with multiple equipment Subject Matter Experts (SME);
- Verification and Validation: Provide validation support for in-service, minor and major capital projects; Provide technical advice and support to SMEs concerning tactical issues and procedures;
- Coordination: Coordinate a large number of test and trials activities for new and legacy equipment (ashore or onboard) for equipment and weapons systems fitted aboard ships; Manage and coordinate Test & Evaluation activities related to the performance of naval operational equipment and weapons;
- Leadership: Lead, support and validate complex test and evaluation activities.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
- Mandatory: Eligible to obtain Government of Canada security clearance, which requires Canadian citizenship and continuous residence in Canada over the last 10 years as a minimum.
- Mandatory: College Diploma or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent from military training) with at-sea experience in naval operations including as a Director level Naval Warfare Officer (NWO). Preference will be given to candidate with Operations Room Officer (ORO) experience.
- Required: Operational knowledge of military shipboard systems.
- Required: Excellent organizational skills with attention to details and quality; Proficient in technical writing in English and ability to communicate effectively at all levels with peers, supervisors and clients.
- Desired: Familiar with Naval Operational Test & Evaluation procedures.
