The Department of Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care is seeking suitably qualified candidates to join the Benefits Administration Unit as a Benefits Adjudicator.

The Manitoba Government has a comprehensive benefit package which includes extended health care, health spending account, dentalcare, vision care, long term disability insurance, group life insurance, maternity/paternity leave, family related leave, and a defined pensionplan (some pension plans allow for portability between the Civil Service Superannuation Board and employers).

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.

  • Must provide a satisfactory credit screening and credit check.

  • Must be able to work shifts and flexible hours.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Customer service experience with an ability to communicate with the public in a professional and respectful manner.

  • Experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations and policies, and determining eligibility to various programs.

  • Experience performing accurate data entry, as well as processing and verifying information.

  • Pharmacy Technician certificate/diploma or experience working in a pharmacy technician role

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.

  • Excellent written communication skills.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Effective organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to take initiative and make independent decisions.

  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Desired:

  • Experience submitting claims in Manitoba’s DPIN system

Duties:

The Benefits Adjudicator is responsible for independent assessment, evaluation and adjudication of complex claims submitted by pharmacists and other health service providers and applications submitted by Manitobans for remuneration, in accordance with The Health Services Insurance Act (the HSIA), The Prescription Drugs Cost Assistance Act, the Manitoba Drug Benefits and Interchangeability Formularies, and the Drug Program Information Network (DPIN) Pharmacy Manual.
