$42 / hour

This is a year-round, full-time career opportunity with benefits in the Canada's Wonderland Turf Maintenance Department.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

The ideal candidate will have experience with turf grass maintenance coupled with proven skills operating related power equipment. This person is able to supervise and direct seasonal staff and assist with the planning and execution of site improvements.

SCOPE OF POSITION:

A “hands-on” foreperson who is responsible to maintain the grounds and effectively hire, train and direct the seasonal turf maintenance technicians.

Responsibilities:

  • Minimum three (3) yrs. related experience in a leadership role

  • A post-secondary certificate in Turf Management is preferred

  • Valid Ontario driver’s license

  • Strong communication skills both written and oral

  • Excellent supervisory skills

  • Small power equipment repair skills and past experience with snow removal equipment required

  • Committed to working shifts, weekends, on call and holidays as required

  • Proven abilities to problem solve, trouble shoot and work with deadlines

  • Safety boots a must

  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions

  • Required to meet the physical demands of the job including weights of up to 23kg, and frequent standing, walking, twisting, reaching, and bending

Qualifications:

  • Short term planning, organization, implementation of all turf grass maintenance operations
  • Hire, train, direct/supervise the activities of 6-8 seasonal staff members
  • Implement safety/training programs and monitor seasonal staff job performance
  • Diagnose turf grass insect and disease conditions and implement control measures
  • Assist with maintenance of irrigation system and new installations
  • Assist with site projects, winter snow removal, and off-season vehicle overhauls
  • Maintain clean shop area and related tools and equipment
