Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Designer to join our team. Reporting to the Automation + Controls Lead, the Electrical Designer executes electrical design tasks and projects. They work closely with the production, manufacturing and purchasing departments to complete electrical designs for Vitalis systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Detailed creation of electrical schematics and drawings
- Producing and verifying cable schedules and termination drawings
- Technical product specifications and sizing of electrical components (power distribution, panel layouts, controller wiring, etc.)
- Cost estimates for panels and electrical work for upcoming projects
- Work with Vendors, Subcontractors, and Purchasing to obtain materials and services needed
- Ensure electrical drawings, designs, and BOM’s are completed on time and adhere to the established specifications and standards
- Facilitate and execute engineering change orders (ECO) for electrical systems
- Work “hands-on” with manufacturing to resolve any electrical problems encountered in production and assist with FAT's as required
- Support our service team in troubleshooting electrical systems in operation
- Reviewing and coordinating vendor design documents to confirm compliance with design requirements
- Maintain knowledge of applicable electrical standards, codes, and regulations
Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma in Engineering Technology or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Prior panel design experience to both Canadian and National Electrical Code (CEC/NEC)
- 2 years of experience with Eplan
- Must have Canadian citizenship or a Canadian work visa.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong communication skills paired with teamwork abilities
- High attention to detail
- Accuracy in all aspects of work
- Ability to manage changing priorities and meet deadlines
