What You’ll Be Doing

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assist journeyman gasfitter with installation, inspection, repair and maintenance of heating equipment both NG and LP. also working with regulators and heating units in residential, commercial and industrial establishments.
  • Assisting with the testing and replacement of defective heating equipment.
  • Be able to work alone with direction from Journeyman Gasfitter.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to converse with a wide variety of customers and internal resources.
  • Measure and mark reference points for installation of gas lines and equipment
  • Install, maintain and service gas heating units and their components, such as burners, valves, and automatic controls
  • Test and replace defective equipment or components
  • Test and adjust control mechanisms and check pipes and piping connections for gas leaks using gas detecting devices
  • Attend to gas escape calls
  • Prepare reports on work performed and condition of equipment
  • Advise clients regarding standards, safety features and maintenance of gas units and systems
  • May repair and service gas appliances and related equipment.
  • Check equipment for damage upon return, report damage and fill out service tags for all returned equipment.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspection of vehicle

What You’ll Bring to the Team

Qualifications And Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Gas Fitter apprenticeship program would be an asset.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, service and repair a variety of heating equipment in the shop or field.
  • Experience with temporary construction heaters (direct and indirect fired, hydronic, electrical etc.) would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of designing and installing temporary heating systems at construction sites using natural gas, propane and diesel equipment would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the safety regulations, codes and practices regarding LP/NG use, equipment servicing, permitting and installation at construction sites would be an asset.
  • Ability to read/understand building and mechanical plans, job specifications and other technical documents would be an asset.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license with abstract in good standing.
