About the role

RPI Executive Search has partnered with an innovative Calgary-based financial services firm in their search for a Director, People & Culture. This newly created leadership role represents a rare opportunity to build and scale an HR function within a dynamic, high-growth, and tech-enabled organization. Reporting directly to the company’s President, the Director will play a critical role in shaping the people strategy, driving digital transformation in HR systems, and fostering a values-aligned, high-performance culture across an expanding team.

Key Responsibilities The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute a modern, scalable people strategy aligned with the organization’s growth ambitions and evolving platform model.
  • Lead the evolution and optimization of the HR tech stack, ensuring seamless integration across multiple functions.
  • Drive the adoption of digital tools, dashboards, and automation to increase efficiency and enable data-informed decisions.
  • Design and implement initiatives that strengthen employee experience, engagement, and culture, and leverage feedback and sentiment tools and analytics to improve cultural health.
  • Partner with Finance to build workforce plans and forecasting models that align with business goals and resource allocation.
  • Build long-term talent pipelines through early-career initiatives and employer brand storytelling.
  • Develop and execute a digital-first recruitment strategy using ATS platforms, sourcing automation, and performance KPIs.
  • Implement scalable leadership development programs, career pathing frameworks, and succession plans to support employee growth.
  • Coach and support senior leaders using data-informed insights to elevate performance, engagement, and organizational capability.
  • Ensure HR policies and systems are compliant with Canadian legislation and audit-ready; manage frameworks using digital repositories.
  • Evaluate the viability of launching a client-facing fractional HR service offering.
  • Any other activities which will support the broader innovation and improvement initiatives by aligning people strategy with digital transformation.

Candidate Experience While no individual will embody every quality, the successful candidate will bring many of the following professional qualifications and personal competencies: Professional Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in HR or People & Culture leadership roles, ideally within digitally enabled or high-growth environments.
  • CPHR designation, or eligibility, is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to scale HR functions and implement modern systems.
  • Experience in workforce planning, leadership development, and employee engagement strategy.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and building HR infrastructure in an evolving organization.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian employment legislation, compliance, and HR governance.
  • Demonstrated success coaching and developing leaders.
  • Experience with psychometric assessment tools is an asset.
