Reporting to the Director, Stationary Equipment Integrity, the Specialist, Stationary Equipment role provides advanced technical and subject matter expertise to ensure station equipment design, maintenance, and compliance meets Nutrien’s and regulatory standards. As a recognized authority, this position performs or coordinates complex assessments, supports critical incident investigations, and leads best practice implementation across Nutrien Nitrogen and Phosphate sites in North America and Trinidad. This role influences Nutrien’s operational excellence through development and stewardship of innovative standards, processes, and training.

This role will be located at one of Nutrien's Nitrogen, Phosphate or Corporate sites and is not eligible for remote work.

What you will do:

  • Lead and complete advanced mechanical calculations, such as Fitness for Service, Stress Analysis, and Pressure Rating, providing clear recommendations and technical sign-off as required
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for complex incident investigations, root cause failure analyses (RCFA), and comprehensive risk-based assessments
  • Develop, review, and approve repair plans and design modifications, ensuring alignment with Nutrien requirements and codes
  • Conduct and lead design reviews of new and modified stationary equipment to validate compliance with all applicable standards and Nutrien engineering practices
  • Evaluate and approve technical drawings and post-construction alterations and specifications
  • Develop and continuously improve Nutrien in-service and design practices, driving gap assessments and implementation of changes
  • Provide technical coaching and training to site engineers and asset integrity teams
  • Actively represent Nutrien on industry technical committees (e.g., ASME, PIP, API), influencing and maintaining awareness of industry trends

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineering designation, or ability to obtain
  • 10+ years of directly related, progressive technical engineering experience, including significant exposure to pressure equipment integrity, failure analysis, and design review
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical initiatives, facilitating stakeholder engagement, and mentoring less experienced engineers
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 35%
