About the role
Position Overview
Reporting to the Lead - Supply Chain Management, the Materials Management Technician Non-Certified provides customer service to Southern Health-Santé Sud sites and programs. The incumbent is responsible for the ordering, receiving, storage, distribution, and delivery of supplies and equipment for facilities in the region, which also includes driving from site to site.
The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.
Experience
- Minimum one-year (1) relevant experience in a Supply Chain environment.
- Previous experience working with MS Dynamics GP is considered an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Grade 12 Education.
Certification/Licensure/Registration

Qualifications and Skills
- Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG).
- Knowledge of basic safe work practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications and Email.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment.
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a changing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional working relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team as well as independently.
- Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required.
- Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.
- Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
- Good work and attendance record.
- Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.
- Operates Southern Health-Santé Sud vehicles safely.
Physical Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
- May be required to work in a variety of temperatures including excessive heat or cold.
- No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
- May work occasionally evenings and weekends as necessary.
- Will be required to travel to other regional facilities as the position duties may require.
