A.  Job Identification: Title:    Senior Finance Analyst

Immediate Supervisor:   Manager of Finance  B.   Job Summary: Under the direction of the Manager of Finance, the Finance Analyst will be responsible for supervising the accounting team (finance, accounts payable and accounts receivable). This position will also be preparing, monitoring, interpreting, and communicating financial and statistical information to internal and external partners and will assist in budget preparation and year-end working papers. C.   Duties and Responsibilities:

·      To ensure accounting staff are performing in accordance with the Board process and procedures.

·      Responsible for preparation of operating/department budgets including working papers used in original estimates, and revised estimates. Assists in entry into Ministry software (EFIS).

·      To provide budget assistance to other departments when required and review submissions to evaluate accuracy, completeness and appropriateness. Provide ongoing guidance and assistance to budget holders to understand their budget reports and the board’s budgeting process.

·      Responsible for department forecasting, variance reporting to actual and providing monthly updates to the Manager of Finance as to possible concerns.

·      Oversee the receipt of agreements, spending guidelines and reporting timelines for all grants received outside the Grants for Student This includes forecasting, ensuring expenditures meeting funding timelines and guidelines.

·      Responsible for assisting in the preparation of financial statements including preparation of working papers and supporting schedules for the annual audit.

·      Will assist with the co-ordination of the external auditors for year end and for various funded programs.

·      To prepare special reports and/or participate in special studies as required.

·      To assist with business process review and analysis for continuous improvement and provide recommendations for Board policies and procedures relating to all financial purposes.

·      To perform other duties as assigned.

D.  Qualifications:

·               Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or related field.

·               Minimum of five years of related experience in finance and/or accounting.

·               Minimum of two years working in a supervisory role in Finance.

·               Preference will be given to individuals with Professional accounting designation CPA or working towards such a designation

·               Strong analytical, problem solving, planning, organizational and project management skills

·               Proficient computer skills including databases, spreadsheets (Excel), word processing and email

·               Strong technical skills is required with experience using Power BI and Power Query an asset

·               Ability to handle matters of a confidential and sensitive nature as they relate to budget and financial planning

·               Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong desire to share knowledge and work in a collaborative environment

·               Demonstrated leadership in a business team environment

·               Strong oral and written communication skills

·               Ability to prioritize workload.
