About the role
Turn your people skills into community impact—and a meaningful career.
Are you a natural connector, someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and knows how to build trust with just a conversation? Have you ever worked in a restaurant, retail store, or other customer-facing role and thought, “I could do more than this—I just need the right opportunity”?
This could be it.
At Village Media, we’re not just in the business of local journalism—we’re building something bigger. Our Community Operating System informs, connects, supports, and empowers local communities across Ontario. And our Community Partner Specialists are the face of that mission in every market we serve.
We’re currently hiring in Cambridge, Guelph, Barrie, Niagara, Orillia, Newmarket, and North Bay.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is more than a sales job—though strong sales are key to success.
As a Community Partner Specialist, you’ll introduce local businesses, non-profits, schools, and service organizations to Village Media’s suite of powerful marketing programs. But you’ll also become a trusted connector—someone who helps strengthen the community by:
- Hosting networking events (occasionally on the weekend, or evening)
- Supporting charitable match campaigns and random acts of kindness
- Championing local heroes through our Community Builder Awards
- Representing Village Media at Chamber events, galas, and community initiatives
- Helping local leaders understand how to access coverage and participate in our community-based initiatives.
In short, you’ll build the kind of meaningful, long-term relationships that turn you into the go-to resource for everything from marketing to media to community innovation.
Why Service and Retail Experience Matters
The skills you’ve already mastered—rapport, resilience, multitasking, listening, and recommending the right solution—translate perfectly into this role.
We’ll provide full training. You bring the heart and hustle.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain a strong network of relationships across business, government, education, and nonprofit sectors
- Prospect and engage local businesses and organizations
- Present and sell our advertising and community partnership solutions
- Coordinate and support local events and outreach campaigns
- Represent Village Media as a community ambassador—both online and in-person
- Track your activity and pipeline in our CRM system
You’ll Thrive In This Role If You:
- Have experience in restaurants, retail, hospitality, or similar fast-paced, people-first environments
- Are outgoing, organized, and genuinely enjoy helping others succeed
- Communicate with confidence, warmth, and clarity
- Can handle rejection with professionalism and bounce back quickly
Are driven, coachable, and excited to build a career that’s both stable and fulfilling - Are tech-comfortable or quick to learn new tools
What You’ll Get
- Base salary + uncapped commission (your income grows with your success)
- Full benefits including health, dental, life insurance, and vision
- Paid time off
- Professional development and mentorship
- A positive and supportive work culture
- A chance to make a real impact in your community every single day
If you’re ready to do work that matters—to grow your career and your community—we’d love to meet you.
