Job Description:
The Mechanical Engineer - Trainee is responsible for reviewing and supporting the application of products to a variety of industries. Communicating through each of the channels to market, the Mechanical Engineer - Trainee works closely to understand the how the product is to be applied, installed, and set-up for operational success. This means understanding mechanical integrity issues and using resources to teach and educate each individual in the end-user supply chain to address these issues. In addition, working closely with the design engineering team to create innovative solutions that can be configured to order. As products are returned for analysis, the Application Engineer/Technologist will assist with failure analysis to investigate factors that impact long-term performance.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Evaluation and interpretation of customer requirements in order to support sealing solutions addressing the fit and function of our products in a wide variety of rotating equipment with the objective of adding value in terms of improved reliability for the end-user. Incorporation of industry standards, American Petroleum Institute (API), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and other applicable standards pertinent to the customer’s application requirements. Direct interaction with the technical sales team and customers as a sounding board and technical resource on specific applications.
- Sealing device performance is impacted by mechanical and/or operational performance issues. Due to the critical role the sealing device component plays, the Application Engineer/Technologist will develop expertise in mechanical integrity, equipment reliability and will understand chemical process flow and operational conditions.
- Evaluate and interpret specifications for technical and commercial submittals. Provide supporting documentation requirements for Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC), Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), and other stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot and conduct failure analysis, creating observation reports, and communicate results to develop specific improvement solutions in partnership with end-users. Engage in root-cause-failure-analysis (RCFA) when situations warrant a systematic and comprehensive investigation.
- Contribute to a global knowledge database. Using a secured portal, AESSEAL maintains a central/global chemical database, machinery database, and industry process database. In addition, drawing searches for assembled products can be directly accessed by any team member and pre-approved customers.
