About the role

Classroom Support and Prep Teaching Position School District 10 (Arrow Lakes) has the following temporary teaching position for the 2025-2026 school year:

School: Nakusp Elementary School Position: Primary Classroom Support and Prep Teacher FTE: 1.0 - Temporary Effective: September 2, 2025 – June 30, 2026, or with four weeks' notice of return of the incumbent*

  • The district will consider offering a guaranteed 1.0 for the school year to a suitable candidate, if they are willing to be a TTOC full-time, in the event that the incumbent returns to this role full or part-time.

Salary Range: $63,192 - $112,685

Required Qualifications / Skills Include

  • A valid Teaching Certificate from the BC Teacher Regulation Branch prior to September 2025
  • Course work specialization and pedagogical knowledge in early literacy and numeracy and Universal Design for Learning (UDL), diversity/ inclusive education, social emotional learning (SEL), self-regulation.
  • Demonstrated ability in planning and designing engaging learning activities using BC curriculum
  • Specialization, training, or strong personal interest in music studies or physical education would be an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills and strengths working within a team environment
  • Excellent classroom management skills and proven ability to engage all learners
  • Excellent ability to differentiate for all learners and co-plan for diversity and engagement
  • Successful experience integrating socio-emotional learning and self-regulated learning
  • Demonstrated understanding of indigenous cultures, and experience integrating First Peoples of Principles of Learning into teaching practice
  • Successful experience in facilitating outdoor learning experiences with a focus on place consciousness and cross curricular learning
  • Commitment to co-developing the School Growth Plan and collaboratively organizing for learning
  • Exemplary use of assessment strategies that engage learners and foster learning
  • Professional learning inquiry experience that informs professional practice
  • Commitment and expertise in building relationships with parents and community
  • Willingness to participate in the school's extra-curricular programs will be an asset
