About the role
Family Physician - Eating Disorders (200-1562)
The ED Program GP will provide direct patient care to clients attending the Central Island Child and Youth Eating Disorders Programs, including:
- ED Medical Monitoring with focus on 17-24 year olds (clients that fall outside the scope of Pediatricians), with monitoring of significantly unwell & complex Adults and/or youth under 17, as necessary
- Comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning for some of the more acute and complex ED Program clients
- Limited follow-up care for complex ED Program clients
- Robust discharge planning with a goal of reducing readmission rates
The ED Program GP will provide indirect patient care appropriate for the patient's conditions including but not limited to:
- Liaising between hospital and community program when indicated; liaising with Family GP/NP
- Arranging for related assessments, procedures and or therapy and interpreting results
- Consulting with service providers within the ED program, community partners, and tertiary care
- Arranging follow up care
- Discussing and providing advice and information to the patient or the patient's representative regarding the patient's conditions and recommended therapy; making and maintaining an adequate medical record of the encounter
- All other in-direct patient care activities normally provided by a GP
- Participating in integrated care meetings regarding clients attending the Central Island Adult and Central Island Child and Youth Eating Disorders Programs as needed
