Job Description
Island Health is looking for a psychiatrist to provide a one year part-time locum for a maternity leave. The successful applicant will primarily work in an outpatient setting, caring for an adult population of patients with a wide spectrum of psychiatric and substance use diagnoses.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide services at the MHSU outpatient clinic and support ACT/ACSS services in the community.
- Care for an adult population with a wide spectrum of psychiatric and substance use diagnoses.
- Work with the persistently mentally ill, personality disordered, and co-morbid populations.
- Collaborate within a regional system of care, including coordination with the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
Required Qualifications
- Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC).
- Eligible for full licensure in British Columbia.
Preferred Qualifications
- Flexibility within a growing and changing clinical environment.
- Comfort with a collaborative and consultative service.
Additional Details
- Caseload is shared with the current psychiatrist.
- No on-call responsibilities after-hours or on weekends or holidays.
- Start Date: May 1, 2025.
