Responsibilities:
Position Overview
Based in Quebec (ideally Montreal), this bilingual Stakeholder Engagement Manager will lead community and First Nations partnership development for renewable energy projects across Quebec and other Canadian provinces. You'll be responsible for providing overall leadership, strategic direction, and execution of Pattern's growing Indigenous programs and partnerships and our broader community and stakeholder engagement. This position functions within a collaborative reporting structure, working equally with both the Public Engagement Team and the Canadian Development Team to ensure seamless integration of corporate engagement strategies with regional development priorities. This is an independent contractor/consultant position. This role requires approximately 30% travel to communities throughout Quebec and the rest of Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engagement and commercial negotiations with First Nations partners, municipalities, and counties in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and other provinces across Canada
- Develop and implement community engagement strategies for projects in Quebec and other Canadian provinces
- Collaborate with legal and financial specialists on partnership agreements and other material commercial agreements relevant to Pattern’s renewable energy projects in Canada
- Support project development process in areas of external affairs, permitting, and government relations, and community engagement
- Design and execute communications campaigns to build local support for projects
- Identify and engage with community organizations and leaders
- Manage community events and strategic sponsorship opportunities
- Support regulatory applications and public consultation processes
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Based in Quebec, ideally Montreal
- Bilingual French/English (speaking and writing) - required
- Experience in Quebec's renewable energy industry - required
- Experience working with First Nations communities and municipal governments - required
- Partnership and complex commercial agreement negotiation experience
- Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, political science, or related field
- Strong writing and communication skills, including public speaking and presentations
- Experience with community outreach in diverse settings (rural, Indigenous)
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Comfortable with travel (30% of time)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (design skills an asset)
